Building in biodiversity: for climate, for health
Almost 75% of the European population lives in an urban area. Continuing loss of biodiversity represents a direct threat to people’s health and well-being. How can we best use the built environment as part of the ecological system? Traditionally we have designed our cities, neighbourhoods, streets and gardens in a way that has proven to be less resilient to the effects of climate change. By understanding ecosystem services and placing biodiversity at the centre of our urban spaces, we can ensure a healthier future for all.
