Brussels University Hospital unveils vibrant clinical services building
At the university hospital campus of UZ Brussel, the heart of the hospital is no longer invisible. The new clinical services building, located right next to the VUB Health Campus in Jette, provides doctors, patients, and students with a sparkling view. This marks an important new step in the reorganization of the campus. VK architects+engineers, part of Sweco, has been guiding UZ Brussel in this significant development as a master planner and multidisciplinary architecture and engineering partner since 2008. How can we transform social neighbourhoods into sustainable communities?
Flanders needs a new approach to climate transition in social residential areas. The ‘Climate Districts Transition Guide – Social Neighbourhoods’ calls for an integrated and neighbourhood-oriented approach, with different actors working together to achieve sustainable goals. Research conducted by Sweco, as commissioned by the Department of Environment, highlights the importance of coordination and contact between local authorities, housing associations and other stakeholders. AZ Jan Portaels breaks ground for hospital of the future
On the former Renault site, at the rear of the Vilvoorde station, a brand new hospital will open its doors in 2027, ticking all the boxes of the “hospital of the future.” VK architects+engineers, part of Sweco, and Wiegerinck are responsible for the design of a health house that can address current and future challenges within the Flemish healthcare landscape. Climate Test Shields Ports Against Climate Change
Climate change also impacts port infrastructure. Sweco experts from Belgium and the Netherlands, in collaboration with North Sea Port, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, and the Agency for Mobility and Public Works, have developed a practical method to map these impacts: the climate stress test. Read more
