Deep geothermal energy
Terrestrial heat is used for deep geothermal energy. Deep geothermal energy has long been used in some volcanic areas, but it is also possible in our country.
The surface temperature in Belgium is about 10°C, and this increases in the subsurface by about 30°C per kilometre.
Sweco Belgium is responsible for the design and engineering of technical and civil installations for deep geothermal power plants. We have the necessary in-house expertise in the areas of concept definition and development of the entire plant with the geothermal loop, the release and distribution of heat, electricity generation etc.
