Redevelopment of the Brussels ring road: Sweco Belgium and Arcadis join forces

Design firms Sweco Belgium and Arcadis have been awarded a multiannual service contract by the Flemish Region for the redevelopment of the ring road around Brussels. The works affect the northern part of the road, between the two connections with the E40, an important east-west connection in Belgium. Together, the two companies will create a team that will provide traffic research, technical plans (for the roads, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure), process management, advice on tendering, stakeholder management, and communication. The annual contract value is estimated at € 3 million (excl. VAT). Read more

Sweco collaborates on largest circular water project in Flanders

Sweco has been appointed to design the pipe distribution network for the cooling water plant of the Waterkracht project. Together with project partners Aquafin, water-link, Ekopak and the infra-fund managed by PMV, we are helping in the impactful project to upgrade treated wastewater into cooling water for companies in the port of Antwerp. This collaboration is an important milestone in the transition to a sustainable port. Read more

Sweco designs green hydrogen plant in Norway

INOVYN, a subsidiary of chemical company INEOS, plans to build one of Norway's first green hydrogen plants. The new electrolyser will have a capacity of 20 megawatts. The CO2 reduction amounts to at least 22,000 tonnes per year, a very significant reduction in INEOS' carbon footprint in Norway. The Belgian and Norwegian experts from engineering firm Sweco will provide the conceptual engineering. Read more

First green Belgian hydrogen plant expects permit by mid-2022

Engineering firm Sweco is overseeing the permit process for the 25 megawatt green hydrogen production unit in Zeebrugge. This is a first for Belgium and further strengthens our hydrogen ambitions. The client is the Hyoffwind consortium (Virya Energy and Fluxys), which has chosen John Cockerill and BESIX as its technology partners and as its partners for the design and construction. Read more

First licence approved in Benelux for green hydrogen plant

Engineering consulting firm Sweco was responsible for the design and preparation of the environmental permit for the 25 megawatt green hydrogen production plant in Vlissingen. This was done on behalf of VoltH2. Upon completion, this site will produce 3.6 million kg of green hydrogen per year. Read more
