Sweco Belgium takes the next step in its strategic growth plan by acquiring the engineering firm SGI Ingénieurs in Belgium. The employees involved, specialised in building structures and techniques and civil infrastructure projects, strengthen the expertise on offer in Brussels and Wallonia.

”The activities, disciplines and customer profiles of Sweco and SGI Ingénieurs complement each other nicely on Belgian territory. SGI Ingénieurs has a very strong reputation in the Brussels and Walloon market for building stability & techniques and civil engineering projects. Together we have a considerable number of interesting projects in our portfolio and we often work with the same private and public customers, partners and architects. These are assets that ensure seamless integration and sustainable growth of our business. Our new colleagues will not surprisingly quickly feel at home at Sweco,” explains Erwin Malcorps, Managing Director of Sweco Belgium.

The buildings and civil engineering teams of SGI Ingénieurs work from the operational seat in Louvain-la-Neuve. The company was created in 2009 after a merger with the engineering company Abcis-Van Wetter and is currently the Belgian branch of the international group SGI Consulting. The 39 employees are experts in the field of stability, civil engineering and building techniques, and have extensive experience in their respective domains.

“The affiliation of SGI Belgium to the Sweco Group is a guarantee of strength and continuity, not only for each of our employees, but also for all our customers in Brussels and Wallonia. We look forward to working together in planning and designing tomorrow's sustainable cities and communities,” François Dorland, Directeur Général SGI Groupe.

"For Sweco and SGI, this transaction meets all the criteria for a profitable and harmonious development throughout Belgium. Both groups are committed to ensuring that this operation takes place under the best conditions, both for employees and for customers and partners," said Anne Van Wetter, Director Division Bâtiments SGI Ingénieurs and Denis Maréchal, Administrator Délégué SGI Ingénieurs.
