Enjoying the Leie: recreational infrastructure for experience points

Project News

Along the Leie, from Deinze to Wervik, experience zones are being created to (re)discover the river and the region. This initiative is part of the upgrading of the Leie axis, a project by De Vlaamse Waterweg nv for Seine Schelde Vlaanderen. Sweco leads the study and co-creative process for the development of an experiential concept and a visual identity for recreational infrastructure. We design seven experience points, under the name ‘roothoeken’, in a network of thirteen experience zones. Read more

Renewal of movable bridges in full swing

De Vlaamse Waterweg nv is rebuilding 17 movable bridges spread across the waterway network in Flanders over the coming years. This is part of the Flemish Asset Management Program 'OverBruggen' to renovate, renew, or modernize fixed and movable bridges at an accelerated pace. Sweco plays crucial roles within the ‘Beweegbare kunstwerken’ project team. IPV Delft is responsible for the architectural design. Read more

De Vlaamse Waterweg nv and the recycling company Devagro have officially inaugurated the renovated and extended quay wall along the Bossuit-Kortrijk canal in Harelbeke. Sweco was responsible for the inventory, preliminary and detailed design, and the environmental permit application, and assisted in the tendering and execution. Read more

The urban renewal project in Tournai is officially inaugurated. This project is part of the multimodal platform 2.0 at the Tournai train station and is part of the SMARTournai project portfolio. This portfolio is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Wallonia. The project includes various urban developments, including the station square, Crombez park, and Rue Royale.
