Scope Sweco Belgium

  • Design temporary site facility (6ha) for project teams and contractors of Optara and ROG project
  • Design Road G for extreme heavy transport (max. 1500 ton) incl. 2 bridges over piping ditches
  • Design lay down area  at TPA Several supporting subprojects

Challenge

  • Extreme heavy and large modules: stability of the underground (very poor soil quality)
  • Very time critical execution of subscopes

Project approach

  • Underground utilities, new HV/LV power distribution cabinets, asphalting (1)
  • Design new internal road and two bridges (2)
  • 3D scanning of buildings and piping  for transport simulation (2)
  • Repositioning electrical panels and piping (2)
  • Provide laydown area at TPA inclusive the utilities (3)

Company profile
Total Raffinaderij Antwerpen (TRA), in the port of Antwerp, is the second biggest, most complex refinery of the Total Group and the third biggest refinery in Europe. TRA is an important link in the integrated petrochemical complex of Total in Belgium. Large oil tankers unload crude oil at the terminal in Rotterdam. This oil is transferred through a pipeline to Antwerp in order to be converted in the refinery into high-value products such as petrol, diesel and kerosene for both the European and American markets, and into base products such as naphtha, butane and aromatics for the petro-chemicals industry.
