The Green Plan Scenario equips cities and towns with instruments to guide the smooth drafting of a green plan. A green plan enables areas with a deficit of green to be made visible and show opportunities for expanding or linking public greenery. This creates a long-term strategy for greenery in a city or town.

A green, open space is one of the key ingredients for the viability and quality of life in our cities and towns. However, in our densely built living environment, green space is not always obvious. More and more cities and towns are looking for a coherent vision and strategy to link and strengthen the existing greenery. The Green Plan Scenario that Sweco formatted, provides a clear instrument to guide the drafting of a ‘green plan’ step by step in the right direction. Green plays an important role for climate, biodiversity and food supply, as well as for leisure, culture and energy. An integrated green vision can provide simultaneous gains in many fields: sports and recreation, health and wellness, ecology and mobility. In addition to a step-by-step plan, this book also contains a selection of inspiring and successful interventions in Flanders.
