Project
The design of the Green Turtle battery park in the industrial site of Rotem (Dilsen-Stokkem) is underway. Soon, 385,000 families will be able to enjoy green power when the wind is not blowing or the sun is not shining as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) allow us to better harness the potential of renewable energy. Storage is at least as important as electricity production because it makes our energy system flexible.
Project
The “Gare Maritime” building in Brussels is an early 20th-century structure that was previously used as a freight station and has been vacant for some time. Its unique architectural features, both in detailing and spatial proportions, prompted the owner, Extensa, to restore the building and develop commercial and office spaces within the large volume.

In 1967, NATO moved to its current headquarters in Evere, which was then considered a temporary solution. Thirty years later, the headquarters proved inadequate for current needs, and NATO organized an international architectural competition for a new headquarters. The international jury chose the design by SOM + Assar, where we were responsible for all engineering, including special techniques and stability.
