Construction sites are often associated with destruction<\/span>. B<\/span>ut did you know that with sustainable techniques and a conscious approach, it is possible to preserve trees and reduce the impact on the environment? <\/span>We did so on the eco-<\/span>district<\/span> Coronmeuse<\/span> in Li<\/span>\u00e8ge<\/span>, where Sweco<\/span> <\/span>is responsible for<\/span> the Master plan and landscaping<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Saving tree heritage<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

The first step to saving trees on construction sites is to <\/span>identify<\/span> any existing trees. A tree survey should be conducted to <\/span>locate<\/span> and <\/span>identify<\/span> the condition of trees on site. <\/span>By using <\/span>new techniques and delicate <\/span>interventions<\/span> Sweco can protect the tree heritage and <\/span>improve soil structure with organic materials. <\/span>These topics we address with <\/span>the <\/span>contractors <\/span><\/span>in<\/span> ambition to <\/span>monitor<\/span> the high-level <\/span>objectives<\/span> during execution<\/span>; <\/span>dewatering, soil compaction, water infiltration, recycling of materials, compost processing etc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fungi for healthy soil<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Soil contamination<\/a> is a common issue on construction sites, but there is a solution. <\/span>S<\/span>oil-improving bacteria and fungi can create a healthy environment for trees to grow. These microorganisms help improve soil structure and support the growth of healthy trees<\/span>,<\/span> and <\/span>help preserve the natural environment. <\/span>It’s<\/span> like creating a <\/span>mini-forest<\/span> in the midst of<\/span> a construction site.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n
