Welcome Mr. Oger, and thank you for diving into the complexities of climate policy and economy. In today\u2019s rapidly changing world, why should businesses act on climate risks? <\/strong><\/h5>\n

That\u2019s actually quite simple: businesses and private operators don’t operate in a vacuum, they operate and are embedded in an environment.\u00a0Climate risk can impact businesses in many different ways<\/strong>.\u00a0First of all, it can impact them directly<\/strong>, if a disaster hits the regions in which they’re located.\u00a0If a flood takes out your factory, that is a direct impact.<\/p>\n

Secondly, climate risk can have an indirect impact. It can impact, directly or indirectly<\/strong>, your supply chains<\/strong> and people that supply the equipment, goods or services that you need to conduct your operations.\u00a0And last but not least, it can impact your clients and the demands of your clients<\/strong>, on which your operations rely.\u00a0So, climate risks<\/a> are impacting businesses from every direction.<\/p>\n

That in itself is a major driver to plan to mitigate these risks. To make sure you eventually have some sort of resilience, especially with risks increasing, as we’re seeing right now. Looking at all of the scientific knowledge we have accumulated very recently,\u00a0the business-as-usual scenario is likely to be extremely costly in the long term<\/strong>. The good news? We have the means for businesses to integrate that scientific knowledge, these data into their operations and planning systems.
