Urban transition

With more and more people living in urban environments, it is crucial to ensure the liveability of these areas. It is not enough to take the effects of climate change, such as heat waves and water scarcity, into account: we must also actively work to achieve climate adaptation and promote biodiversity in our cities.

The world around us is changing rapidly. Urbanisation, climate change and a growing demand for sustainable development are presenting us with major challenges. Currently, more than 70% of Europeans live in cities, and this percentage is expected to rise to 84% by 2050.

Guided by the international agenda

A transition agenda for resilient cities is being put forward by the United Nations and Europe. Both national and regional policy frameworks are also being brought into line with this agenda. We aim to implement these measures in all our projects.

  • The European Green Deal aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
  • UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) actively contribute to facilitating prosperity and protecting the planet from climate change by 2030.

This transition is challenging, but it also offers us a wealth of opportunities to make our living environment flourish. So how can we prepare our cities for the future?

Innovative solutions

Investing in innovative energy solutions, sustainable buildings, and reshaping transport and mobility in cities are just a few examples of how we can meet this challenge. It is crucial that we embrace circular principles, strengthen electricity grids and develop a wide range of mobility solutions. It is also essential to promote biodiversity and draw up plans for efficient water management.

An integrated approach to urban renewal

Effective urban transition requires an integrated approach that transcends individual solutions. It is a dynamic process in which practical and sustainable choices complement each other. When developing new strategies and plans, it is important to take a holistic view by balancing environmental interests, social inclusion and economic growth.

Future-proof environments that foster connection

This approach involves more than just planning; it is also about creating inspiring, future-proof environments where people feel connected. Taking the right approach will enable us to work together to build liveable cities that offer endless opportunities for growth and innovation; cities where everyone can thrive. This requires creativity and collaboration, whereby communities must have a clear say.
