How modern measurement technology accelerates your project
Infrastructure projects are becoming increasingly complex and demanding. The use of innovative measurement methods such as SLAM, mobile mapping, and 3D scanning, allow you to quickly and accurately collect the data you need. With this reliable information, you lay a solid foundation: from design to implementation and renovation. You prevent errors and give your project a clear advantage.
Accurate measurements in challenging environments
We offer our topographic services through framework agreements or as an integrated part of complete project assignments (preliminary design, design, implementation). We combine traditional craftsmanship with the latest technology to conduct accurate measurements quickly, even in busy or difficult to reach locations. Among other things, we focus on:
- Terrestrial surveying: traditional surveying techniques with total stations and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System).
- (Precision) levelling: for applications such as infrastructure construction, subsidence monitoring, and building height verification.
- 3D laser scanning: advanced technology for detailed mapping of objects and terrain. This consists of static and mobile mapping as well as via drone technology.
- Mobile mapping: using mobile systems equipped with GNSS, IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), cameras, and laser scanners for large-scale infrastructure objects.
- Monitoring: continuous or periodic measurements to track movements, deformations, or subsidence of structures. This is used for dikes, tunnels, and construction pits, among other things.
- SLAM technology (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping): allows scanning equipment and drones to simultaneously map their surroundings and determine their own position within them.
SLAM proves its value in rapid delivery.
A recent project demonstrates the power of SLAM technology in complex infrastructure environments. Classic methods such as total station or terrestrial scanning proved too slow and expensive. Therefore, our geodata team switched to SLAM, combined with the NavVis VLX system. While traditional surveys would take 10 days, we completed the data collection in 2.5 days. We are now investigating how we can optimally use SLAM for road routes and tunnel projects.
Site supervision and topography aligned
Through close supervision on site, we ensure that the quality of the work is maintained and that errors are quickly detected. For you, this means fewer surprises and savings in terms of time and money. Our topographic surveys ensure that you have extremely accurate floor plans. Together, these services ensure a smooth and successful construction process. Since we have all this expertise in-house, you are assured of an efficient approach and smooth collaboration, without being dependent on external subcontractors. This ensures greater continuity and fewer coordination problems.
Get ahead with data management
Measuring is just the first step. Our data management ensures that your data is accurate, usable, and scalable. Both the BIM processes, the creation of Digital Twins, and our GIS expertise support data management. This provides you with a single, central source of truth (SSOT) for your project. At Sweco, you can count on accurate and up-to-date information, not only during the project but for future support as well. This ensures that you always stay well-informed and in control.
Instead of providing you with individual services, we provide you with an integrated approach. Our experts from various disciplines work together towards one goal: ensuring that your project runs smoothly and efficiently. Since we offer everything in-house, you are assured of continuity, independence, and short lines of communication.
