Energy consulting for Milcobel
Milcobel, the largest dairy cooperative in Belgium, is known for its premium dairy products, including Brugge cheese, mozzarella, butter, and cream. With the consumer demand for sustainably produced cheese in mind, Milcobel took decisive action by asking Sweco to conduct a comprehensive energy audit in its four main production facilities in early 2023.
This in-depth examination of energy flows and processes led to the implementation of a two-phase heat integration system in one facility, achieving a remarkable 20% reduction in natural gas consumption.
Climate roadmap
But our vision extends beyond current performance. How can we continue to innovate and achieve zero emissions by 2050? We help Milcobel make progress according to its climate roadmap by implementing concrete actions.
Some examples include the integration of CO2 heat pumps, the establishment of a low-temperature heat network, and the gradual phase-out of a combined heat and power installation. These steps help our client further reduce its gas consumption and carbon footprint.
