Sweco welcomes a-tract architecture, confirming ambitions as an architecture and engineering consultancy

Sweco is pleased to welcome a-tract architecture to its group, further strengthening our commitment to innovative design solutions. With a-tract architecture, specialising in sustainable and forward-thinking architecture, Sweco continues to strenghten its integrated design approach. The seamless synergy between high-quality architecture and leading engineering and consultancy provides maximum value for our clients.

a-tract architecture joins the legal entity Sweco Architects, which, following the arrival of assar architects, further confirms our ambition to deliver top-tier architecture within a multidisciplinary framework. Through this integrated approach, Sweco aims to design high-performing, future-proof projects that demonstrably meet functional, technical, and sustainability criteria throughout their entire lifecycle.

This vision matches the values of a-tract architecture, which sees architecture not as a product, but as a collaborative, analytical, and creative process that creates lasting value. The practice is focused on designing innovative, future-oriented buildings. Their compact and versatile team brings together expertise in architecture, urban planning, circular construction, and sustainable solutions.

Innovation and sustainability as a commitment, with a personal approach

In recent years, a-tract architecture has delivered a whole range of inspiring projects, from sustainable homes to modern, functional business spaces that ignite the imagination. As a signatory to the Circular Building Limburg Manifesto, a-tract architecture acts as a catalyst for a more sustainable future. In partnership with the Flemish government, the practice is committed to driving a structural transition towards circular construction, with reuse, modularity, and waste minimisation at its core.

With a focus on a personal approach and carefully tailored processes, a-tract architecture combines analytical thinking with a passion for quality—enabling rapid responses, solution-driven work, and meeting stakeholder expectations across projects of all scales.

A synergistic future

Sweco remains committed to working closely with stakeholders, enabling small teams to act swiftly while drawing on the expertise and resources of an international organisation. Sweco and a-tract architecture share a dedication to quality and innovation, and we look forward to building on these shared values together on future projects.

We look forward to strengthening our expertise and presence in the Belgian market with a-tract architecture. Our global approach, based on criteria for sustainable development, enables us to place each project in its unique social, ecological, and economic context. We see these values reflected in the collaborative approach of a-tract architecture.

Architecture at the heart of our DNA

Since its inception, Sweco has combined architectural and technical expertise to develop innovative solutions that unite performance, aesthetics and sustainability. Today, our European network includes 1,500 architects across eight countries. This collective strength enables us to offer deep expertise in architecture and urban planning, with projects in sectors such as housing, healthcare, retail, offices, education, leisure and sport, infrastructure, industry and defence. Where needed, we adopt a multidisciplinary approach that brings together urban planning, landscape design, architecture, interior design, heritage and lighting design. We respect the local context while leveraging cross-border knowledge to address major transition challenges such as urbanisation, digitalisation and climate neutrality.

Open collaboration model

Sweco continues to work closely with other architecture agencies. When a client opts for an external design partner, we ensure that complex design projects run smoothly and in harmony. Sweco acts as the perfect link between the external architect and our in-house technical specialists. We promote strict coordination and clear communication between engineering and architecture teams, an essential condition for overall project performance.
