Sweco officially welcomes CONIX RDBM Belgium
On 20 May, the agreement was officially signed and the Belgian activities of CONIX RDBM Architects officially continue as CONIX RDBM Belgium within Sweco Architects. Like Sweco, CONIX RDBM Belgium aims to create value for future generations through sustainable, socially responsible and collaborative design. From now on, Sweco and CONIX RDBM Belgium will jointly deliver inclusive projects where architecture and engineering seamlessly come together.
The strength of multidisciplinary teams, where human talent is enhanced by technology, makes it possible to offer a broad range of services, from product design to urban planning. Through expertise in architecture, interior design, concept development, graphic design, data analysis, policy advisory and more, CONIX RDBM Belgium brings together a wide spectrum of competencies that will now be offered under the legal entity Sweco Architects.

Improving quality of life for future generations
Sweco and CONIX RDBM Belgium share the belief that every intervention in the built and unbuilt environment is an opportunity to improve the quality of life of people, their surroundings and the planet. In line with Sweco’s full lifecycle design vision, we reaffirm our ambition to create high-quality, liveable spaces that enhance environmental wellbeing and strengthen social connection across generations.
Through an integrated approach, we deliver sustainable design solutions that optimise environmental impact, supported by clear roadmaps and key performance indicators rooted in real value creation. This commitment goes beyond intention. It is driven by a sense of responsibility that extends beyond individual projects. Both Sweco and CONIX RDBM Belgium are committed to fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing as part of a broader collective ambition.
It is with great pleasure that Sweco can finally welcome CONIX RDBM Belgium. By integrating high-quality, experience-driven architecture with leading engineering expertise, we create high-performing and future-proof projects that meet functional, technical and sustainability criteria. We do this with a strong sense of responsibility, delivering long-term value for our clients throughout the entire lifecycle.

CONIX RDBM Belgium, designing positive impact
CONIX RDBM Belgium has a long-standing history. Founded in 1979 by Christine Conix, Conix Architects quickly gained recognition in both the Belgian and international architectural scene through landmark projects. Notable examples include the renovation of the Atomium, the Belgian Pavilion for the Shanghai World Expo, the headquarters of Umicore and the London Tower. In 2013, the firm merged with RDBM Architecten & Adviseurs, driven by a shared architectural vision. Under the name CONIX RDBM Architects, the portfolio was further expanded with leading projects such as the O’Sea and Baelskaai urban developments in Ostend, the campus extension for Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the Herman Teirlinck building in collaboration with Neutelings Riedijk Architects, the Multi office tower in Brussels and the offices of Q8 in Antwerp.
Since 20 May, the Belgian activities continue as CONIX RDBM Belgium within Sweco Architects.
With the integration of CONIX RDBM Belgium into the Sweco Group, we are strengthening our presence as architects in Belgium through broader expertise and a stronger foothold in Flanders and Brussels. Today, we are bringing together teams that, each through their own history and expertise, have been contributing to architectural quality and forward-looking design for more than 40 years.
Renaud Chevalier, Divisie Directeur at Sweco Architects

This step further strengthens our architects as ambassadors of interdisciplinary design teams, enabling them to better connect the cultural and social value of architecture with all stakeholders, within a sustainable professional environment for both architecture and architects.
Frederik Jacobs, CEO and co-founder of CONIX RDBM Belgium
With Sweco Architects, we can bring a new dimension to our architectural practice. Since the founding of CONIX RDBM Belgium, we have focused on an integrated approach to architecture. From today onwards, we can further expand this approach with even greater expertise within a new organisation for the Belgian market.
Jorden Goossenaerts, CEO and co-founder of CONIX RDBM Belgium.

Architecture at the heart of our DNA
Since its foundation, Sweco has combined architectural and technical expertise to develop innovative solutions that unite performance, aesthetics and sustainability. Today, our European network includes 1,500 architects across eight countries. This collective strength enables us to provide in-depth expertise in architecture and urban planning, delivering projects across sectors such as residential, healthcare, retail, offices, education, leisure and sports, infrastructure, industry and defence.
Where relevant, we apply a multidisciplinary approach bringing together urban planning, landscape architecture, architecture, interior design, heritage and lighting design. We respect local context while leveraging cross-border expertise to address major transition challenges such as urbanisation, digitalisation and climate neutrality.
An open collaboration model
Sweco continues to work closely with other architecture firms. When a client selects an external design partner, we ensure that complex design processes run smoothly and collaboratively. In this role, Sweco acts as the ideal link between the external architect and our in-house technical specialists. We encourage strong coordination and transparent dialogue between engineering and architectural teams, an essential condition for achieving the overall performance of the project.
